All the galleries are hosting events and holiday-themed entertainment for a variety of ages, and interests.
In Kilmarnock, Rappahannock Art League will host “Creating with Santa” for children in grades K-5, from 10am to noon, and will be open from 9am to 4pm with their “Holiday Shop,” featuring handmade artisan gifts.
In Irvington, Objects is presenting “The Twelve Gifts of Christmas,” highlighting 12 of their over 200 varied artists. The gallery will feature original hand-crafted gifts of jewelry, pottery, glass, painting, photography, and wood. Allure Art Center in White Stone will host an Artisan Holiday Open House with Virginia artists doing live demonstrations, glass blowing and bringing in new holiday works. Also, the artisan jewelry studio at Allure will be open with over 400 pieces available.
The Heritage Arts Center at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville will be open with locally-made handcrafts, artisan studios, spinning & weaving demonstrations, holiday lunch in the café, and boxed homemade holiday cookie assortments ready for gift-giving.
The Arts Center of Montross is hosting “Sip and Shop, The Ultimate Holiday Shopping Experience” at its gallery, which opened earlier this year. The Center has studios where the artists will be working and demonstrating their skills. The Center features a wide variety of art from more than 30 artists and artisans, many of whom will be there to talk about their art. The work of several artists will be on sale for this event.
Colonial Beach Artists Alliance will be open with works from over 20 regional artists in painting, photography, glass, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, and furniture. On December 10, Artist Rita Kovach is going to demonstrate gourd painting and Artists Alliance artists will also be offering smaller art pieces appropriate for gift giving.
