Historic Church Tours: 14 Unique Sites POSTPONED to October 7

Welcome to the first ever Historic Church Tour sponsored by Morattico Baptist Church and her daughter/granddaughter churches. A self-guided tour of Morattico Baptist Church, founded in 1778, and thirteen of her daughter churches. There will be docents on each property to share with you historical information.

Where hidden gems of the Northern Neck, dating back to 1778, will be revealed. Whether you are a history buff, church enthusiast or just curious we think you will find this tour a special treat. The Historic Church Tour offers something for everyone – history, architecture, stained glass, cemetery secrets and more.

Make sure to pick up your tour guide at your first stop. This will give you additional information such as where you can get breakfast, lunch or snacks.

Tickets?

Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased in advance or at the door.  Ticket sale locations are:

Kilmarnock:        NN Chiropractic, Davenport & Co., Kilmarnock Lettering Company

Lancaster:           Lancaster Historical Society

Lively:                   Chesapeake Bank

Burgess:               Lillian’s She Shed

Heathsville:        Primis Bank

Where do I get my Historic Church Tour guide book?

Guide books can be picked up at any of the participating churches. One per paid ticket.

What if it rains?

All sales are final. Tours are held rain or shine unless weather conditions make a location inaccessible. Please follow us on social media for notices regarding any closures. Facebook: Historic Church Tour

Where does the tour start?

You may start at any of the fourteen (14) participating churches.

Accessibility and restrooms

Please see the key codes for each church listed in the guide book you will receive at your first stop for information on accessibility and restrooms.

Touring attire

For your comfort and safety, please wear flat walking shoes. You may encounter steps and uneven surfaces so please watch your step.

Photography

Photography is allowed but we ask that you respect your fellow visitors and not block their view or stay too long in one place while photographing.

Pets

Pets are not permitted. Exception: Service animals

Smoking, strollers and large bags

No smoking on any church property. We would prefer small children be carried as opposed to being in a stroller. If you are carrying a backpack or bag, please be mindful as to not bump into fellow visitors or damage church property.
