Relax; verb: to become less tense, rigid, or firm.
Ah, yes, that’s better.
We know a thing or two about relaxation here in the River Realm. Sometimes all it takes is a walk outside. The breeze, the waters, the wildlife all welcome you and ease your mind. The slower pace of life and lack of highways also helps create a sense of zen here.
Some of our local businesses offer a bit of extra help finding your zen, too. Whether it’s getting outside or going inward, find a bit of extra luxury during your next visit to the River Realm:
Grab a Paddle
Leave your daily stresses and worries on the shore while you get up close and personal with the rivers, creeks and the bay of the River Realm. Leave the motors and cell phones behind, too. Pull on your life vest and head out on a kayak or paddle board trip. You’ll be able to say “Hi” to local fish and other wildlife. A few places that offer kayak and paddle board rentals include Grey’s Point Camp, Bethpage Camp-Resort, The Tides Inn, and Belle Isle State Park.
Spa Time
Take care of your body as well as you care for your mind. Facials, manicures, waxing and more are all available here in the River Realm. Take advantage of your increased relaxed state to truly indulge in a luxurious reset. For example, the Journey Spa at The Tides Inn offers a variety of body treatments, facials, waxing, manicures and more. In Saluda, The Rivah Day Spa staff can pamper you with nail care, facials, massage, and a full service shop with beauty and skin care goods. The Hope & Glory Inn has its own spa named “Recess,” which is a nod to the boutique hotel’s past as a boarding school. You can even enjoy a private alfresco bath in a closed off area of the Inn’s courtyard. You can find a full list of spas in our Business Directory.
Yogi Time
The benefits of yoga are beyond the body, as you know. Take advantage of your time away and bring your mat next time you come to the river. You can roll it out on your patio or dock for some self-guided flows and meditations. If you want some guidance, we recommend Inside Out Yoga in White Stone. Group and private sessions are led in a gorgeous studio, surrounded by windows and views of the River Realm. You can also look out for workshops and retreats hosted by the studio. Middlesex Women’s Club in Urbanna also offers some other great options including Hatha Yoga, Chair Yoga & Tai Chi.
