SUMMARY:Family Boatbuilding Week 2026
DESCRIPTION:Families attend a boatbuilding orientation where they learn to build a wooden rowing skiff (Wright Skiff) from a supplied kit. They have five days to build the boat and have it in the water and race ready.  The 14-foot boats are made of cypress and fir and held together with stainless steel fasteners. During Family Boat Week\, participants work together on-site daily. It’s an activity that bonds families as they team up to construct their boat.\n\n“The purpose is to get families together with a project they can complete\, be proud of\, and use for years\,” he said. Over the last 17 years\, families assembled up to 154 boats within the program.\nJohn England\, the boat shop director\, has seen the program grow for as long as it’s been around. For him\, Family Boatbuilding Week is about seeing people embrace Deltaville’s boatbuilding tradition. England has built 25-30 boats in his 50-year career.

SUMMARY:"ALL Men are Created Equal:" The Declaration of Independence and Black Freedom Suits & Freedom Petitions
DESCRIPTION:The Declaration of Independence asserted that “all men are created equal” and have natural rights and the right of self-government by consent. Slavery contradicted these core principles of the Declaration of Independence as America’s creedal document. In part one of HCC&M’s 2026 Summer Speaker Series\, Tony Williams\, a Senior Fellow at the Bill of Rights Institution\, shows how\nenslaved people were the first to make a claim on those principles of liberty\, equality\, and self-government to fulfill the unrealized promise of America. Using the Declaration of Independence as their “North Star\,” they launched “freedom petitions” and “freedom suits” making a claim on natural rights with unexpected and surprising outcomes. Williams will also sign copies of his new\nbook Divided Over the Declaration: How an Enduring Debate Sustains the Vision of America. Wine & cheese reception with speaker and book signing. Part one of the 2026 Summer Speaker Series. Tickets required.

SUMMARY:Fantasy Book Club: ACOTAR Re-read\, Book #2- Mist and Fury
DESCRIPTION:Join Our July Fantasy Book Club! ✨ \n📚 Meet us to start our re-read of the ACOTAR series\, leading up the the October release of Book 6 in October. This meeting will be to discuss Book 2: A Court of Mist and Fury. \nSarah J. Maas’s sexy\, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre’s fiery sister\, Nesta. \nNesta Archeron has always been prickly—proud\, swift to anger\, and slow to forgive. And since the war—since being made High Fae against her will—she’s struggled to forget the horrors she endured and find a place for herself within the strange and deadly Night Court. The person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian\, the battle-scarred\, winged warrior who is there at Nesta’s every turn. But her temper isn’t the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable\, and it only burns hotter as they are forced to work closely together. As the threat of war casts its shadow over them once again\, Nesta and Cassian must battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance—and healing—in each other’s arms.

SUMMARY:Author Event with Rachel Beanland\, The Half Life
DESCRIPTION:An Evening with Rachel Beanland\, Author of The Half Life \nWhat happens when the life you chose starts to feel like a cage? When twenty-three-year-old Eileen O’Malley falls for a charming naval officer\, she finds herself following him to the tiny\, sun-drenched Mediterranean island of La Maddalena — far from everything she’s ever known. But paradise has a dark underbelly: when Italian activists begin sounding the alarm about nuclear contamination in the water\, the island erupts in protest — and Eileen’s loyalties begin to shift\, drawn into a web of secrets and toward a local journalist who forces her to imagine a life beyond the one she’s been handed. \nAtmospheric\, sexy\, and quietly defiant\, The Half Life is a story of love\, complicity\, and awakening. Readers are calling it a page-turner they literally lost sleep over. \nJoin us for an intimate evening with Richmond author Rachel Beanland — author of Florence Adler Swims Forever\, winner of the National Jewish Book Award for Debut Fiction — as she discusses her stunning new novel\, takes questions from the audience\, and signs books. \nTickets: 🎟 $45 — includes a Hardcover copy of The Half Life 🎟 $20 — general admission\, no book included. \nSeating is limited.

SUMMARY:4th Annual Rescue Regatta
DESCRIPTION:The dates are set and the 4th Annual Rescue Regatta continues its tradition as a fundraiser for the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad and a FUN-raiser for the community. This exceptional event blends excitement on the water\, live music\, delicious food\, a lively auction\, and the spirit of giving to support our dedicated volunteer rescue squad who serve Middlesex County 24/7. \nLast year’s event (RR25) set a high mark\, with moments like the Colonial Seaport Foundation’s Luna joining the fleet and writing a $30\,000 check to MCVRS. While it is our most successful year yet\, thanks to all the generous sailors\, sponsors\, and attendees\, we’re aiming even higher for RR26! \nThis year\, the Deltaville Maritime Museum – a key partner in making this event shine – has offered to host the festivities. We could not be more grateful to the folks at DMM!\nFishing Bay Yacht Club will again host and officiate the race. There would be no Rescue Regatta without the foundational support of FBYC.\nLooking for entertainment? We have you covered.
