Svetlana Smolina

May 22 @ 7:00 pm - 11:50 pm

Chamber Music Concert at Good Luck Cellars on May 22, 2019
Featuring Russian Pianist Svetlana Smolina and Musicians from the Northern Neck Orchestra.

Russian pianist Svetlana Smolina and three stellar members of the Northern Neck Orchestra will perform an evening of chamber music by Mahler, Dvorak and Mozart at 7 p.m. on May 22, 2019, at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, in Kilmarnock.

The program includes Mahler’s Piano Quartet, Dvorak’s Piano Trio and Mozart’s Trio for Violin, Viola and Piano.

“We are delighted to present a rich variety of chamber music performed by these exceptional musicians,” said the orchestra’s Eric Jacobson. “The Mahler quartet is filled with passion and a sense of longing. The Dvorak trio is alternately gay and melancholy, while the Mozart trio contains a sprightly minuet with extended viola riffs.”

Smolina has performed with orchestras and in recitals worldwide. Notable appearances include the Mariinsky Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall, the Orchestra National de France and the Pittsburgh Symphony. A frequent guest at festivals worldwide, she has performed at the Salzburg Festival, Hollywood Bowl, and Ravinia.

Smolina will be performing with Northern Neck Orchestra violinist and concertmaster Moises Cunha, principal cellist Steve Custer, and principal violist Alice Lindsay.
