Steamboat Era Museum 5th Annual Holiday Marketplace

Dec 1, 2018 10:00 am - Dec 1, 2018 4:00 am

More then 20 artisans will p resent their work at the Fifth Annual Holiday Marketplace on Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24 from 10am-4pm. The Marketplace will also be open on Saturday December 1, 8 and 15.

The museum is pleased to present three new museum related items. A brass Christmas ornament of the steamer Potomac is a wonderful way to add a bit of local history to your holiday decorations. Individual tins of white, milk and dark chocolate with labels of photos from the museum’s collection are unique stocking stuffers or hostess gifts. The “The Northern Neck” poster, depicting a sailboat and large moon, has been be applied to wood and will be offered as a sign, postcard, journal and magnet.

Once again the vintage style map of the Chesapeake Bay showing steamboat ports, based on a large map at the museum, presented on a 72” x30” scarf will be available for sale. The soft and drapey scarf, made of 100% soft polyester voile, is easy to wear in different ways and shows the entire Bay from Baltimore to Norfolk. All the Bay towns with steamboat wharves are identified. Show off where you live or visit to your friends and family. And available only at the museum, six inch tall white Watermen’s ceramic boots, including paint and brushes, a great way to create your very own Watermen’s Way Boot. Both of these items are in limited quantities.

An original “paper” painting,by local artist David Aiken, will be available as a poster, note card or postcard.

The gift shop will be full of holiday decorations and gifts for the entire family.
Note cards, posters, journals, puzzles and other museum related items make unique holiday gifts.

A silent auction including artisans’ work, posters and other fun pieces will run the first two days of the Marketplace and will end at 4 pm on Saturday, Nov 24.

Proceeds from the Marketplace support the museum. New items for the 2018 Holiday Marektplace include a journal with the Northern Neck poster on the cover and a brass ornament of the Steamboat Potomac.

The museum gift shop will be full of interesting items including posters, books, note cards, journals and note pads, as well as garden and home decorative pieces. There will be stocking stuffers and gifts for kids and adults along with new holiday merchandise including tree ornaments, Santa dolls, hostess gifts and more.

A portion of all proceeds will support the museum.
