Scary Halloween in the Park

October 31, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Scary Halloween” Monday , Oct 31st at Maritime Park
Ghosts, Ghouls, Gargoyles and Goblins Gather!
By bill Powell, Events director, Deltaville Maritime Museum

Yes, Halloween is on what we will for this year name “Monster Monday”, and, ready or not, the goblins, ghouls, ghosties, and maybe a witch, warlock, zombie or two are beginning to stir, moan and generally raise a ruckus in the “Wailin’ Woods and for the hayrides in the “Field of Screams” out at the Maritime Park.

All the volunteers at Deltaville Maritime Museum’s Annual “Scary Halloween in the Park” are turning on the “ghost detector” as Halloween takes place Monday Oct 31st from 6:30-8:30pm at the Maritime Park, located at 287 Jackson Creek Road. Please note new times!

There’ll be plenty of candy and levels of scariness for costumed folks (and real spooks) of all ages. Parking in our convenient lots and admission to this event are always free to the public.

“Scary Halloween in the Park” is being held on the actual date of Halloween. Thanks to Sheriff Bushey and the Middlesex Deputies who graciously help with our parking.

Our volunteers and staff work hard to makes sure there is a “scariness” level to make all age groups comfortable. In the “Pavilion of Peril”, all comers will find a well-lit, less “scary” area in both North and South events pavilion wings with plenty of candy being handed out by Museum volunteers, local businesses and organizations in costume. Billz Bistro in the Pavilion will be open, Linny Lancaster and myself will be grillin’ up hot dogs and Marie Wilding will be serving hot chocolate, bottled water, chips and hot coffee.

In the “Field of Screams”, 2 wagons of hayrides run a shadowy, scary, supernaturally sinuous serpentine path through the ghosts, goblins and general dark and scariness. What will happen next? Only the “Great Pumpkin” knows. It’s all a wonderful surprise! Things that go “Bump” in the night!

I know there are those of you out there who think you are not scared of anything, but…. Be warned, you’ll need dauntlessly doughty daring and… nerves of steel to discover what lies along the darkling, somber paths of the “Wailing Woods”. Nothing gets the adrenaline flowing like a winding, withering, weeping, whimpering, wraithful walk through the paths of the “Wailin’ Woods”. Watch out, there may be a Zombie or two.. Abandon hope all ye who enter here.

On a lighter note, there is always plenty of candy, candy, candy for all, thanks the Museum and our generous local businesses, organizations and individuals. Many hands make pleasant work.

Most of the parking will be in our spacious West lots.

Preparation for Halloween is hard underway but volunteers are still needed Call Kristen, or Joy at the Museum office between 10am-4pm Monday- Saturday or 12-4pm Sunday. Museum is closed Wednesday.

The Museum and Park are encouraging anyone who wants to help set up, put together the “scary stuff” for either the “Field of Screams” or the “Wailin’ Woods”, help with the preparation, give out candy in the “Pavilion of Peril”, distribute candy to the tables, manage the hay wagon loading, donate candy or money or, just help in general to call in or just come out. Businesses, organizations and individuals are all welcome even up to the last minute. Saturday and Sunday Oct 29-30 will be the main work days.
