The weekend of March 19 the White Stone Firehouse will be filled with paintings, carvings, photography and bronze sculpture for the 41st Annual Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show. Artists from Pennsylvania to Florida will be exhibiting their wildfowl art for the many visitors to the show to enjoy viewing and to purchase.
The weekend festivities will begin with the Preview Night Gala on Friday March 18. This evening event gives attendees the opportunity to visit with the artists and perhaps purchase that special painting, carving or sculpture early. Preview Night guests will have a chance on winning a special door prize.
The Preview Night door prize is an original painting by Mary Lou Troutman of Dameron, MD. This is Mary Lou’s 23rd year as an exhibitor at this show. Mary Lou grew up in the countryside of Southern Maryland’s St. Mary’s County. From an early age she began expressing her artist talents. Just prior to her first year of college at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, she met Jeff, who became her husband and partner. Jeff does most of the traveling to promote her art at events in the DelMarVa area.
Mary Lou’s subject matter comes from the creeks, marshes, rivers and the Chesapeake Bay that are so much a part off life in St.Mary’s County. She has developed a way to express “the way it was” along the Chesapeake in her detailed acrylic paintings. Docks, boats, wildlife, crabs are some of the many subjects she captures with a realism that draws the viewer in. Her award winning paintings may be found in corporate and private collections across the country. In 1994 she was Maryland’s Ducks Unlimited sponsor artist.
