Welcome an exciting new adventure at Hope and Glory Inn this summer! We’re hosting two Meet & Greet the Press Weekends at the Inn, where two nationally recognized journalists from The New York Times and The Washington Post will be coming to discuss the hot political landscape in person.

Join us for Under The Tent weekends at The Hope and Glory Inn. Each event will run from 5 – 7 pm. The capacity is 50 guests, and the $100 cost per person includes the one-hour speaker presentation and an hor’s d-oeuvres and wine reception afterward.

  • Saturday, July 30: Jonathan Martin, National Political Correspondent for The New York Times and co-author of This Will Not Pass, which spent three weeks on the New York Time best-seller list.
  • Jonathan Martin is a national political correspondent for The New York Times. Before joining The Times, he had served as senior political writer for Politico since its inception in 2007. He began covering politics for National Journal’s political publication, The Hotline, and then reported on party politics and the aftermath of the 2006 midterm elections for National Review magazine.  Mr. Martin is a co-author of the New York Times best seller “The End of the Line: Romney vs. Obama: The 34 Days That Decided the Election” (December 2012), the fourth and final e-book in Politico’s 2012 series on the race for the presidency. His work has been published in The New Republic, National Journal, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal. He has appeared frequently on television and radio as a political analyst and commentator, including on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, MSNBC and NPR.
  • Saturday, August 6: Discuss “The January 6 Investigations: What Comes Next?” with Randall Eliason, a contributing columnist for The Washington Post and Professorial Lecturer in Law, at The George Washington University School of Law with a specialty in white-collar crime.
  • Randall D. Eliason spent 12 years as an assistant United States attorney for the District of Columbia, working in various areas including misdemeanors, grand jury, narcotics, general felonies, and the Violent Crime Unit. For more than eight years, Mr. Eliason specialized in white collar crime as a member of the Public Corruption/Government Fraud section. From 1999 to 2001, he served as chief of that section, supervising a staff of eleven AUSA’s prosecuting white collar cases in federal court.

    Mr. Eliason is the recipient of numerous awards and commendations from the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies. While at the U.S. Attorney’s office, he lectured at the Department of Justice National Advocacy Center in South Carolina and at the Attorney General’s Advocacy Institute in Washington, D.C. He also served as the Professional Responsibility Officer (ethics advisor) for the Criminal Division.

    He is a frequent media commentator on issues related to corporate and white collar crime, and has appeared on PBS’s Frontline, NBC’s Nightly News, NPR’s Morning Edition, CNN, MSNBC, and elsewhere. His writings on federal criminal law have been published in law reviews, legal periodicals, and national newspapers, and he is a contributing columnist for The Washington Post. He also writes about white collar crime and federal criminal law on his blog, Sidebars, which was recognized as a top 100 legal blog by the ABA Journal.
