Bach & The Beatles Go For Baroque

June 26, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Northern Neck Orchestra presents “Bach and the Beatles Go For Baroque”, a chamber music concert reimagined for string quartet. The concert features compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Tickets are $30 and may be purchased online at www.northernneckorchestra.org or at the check-in desk. Students are admitted at no charge.
The playlist includes Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Art of the Fugue as well as Lennon and McCartney’s I Want to Hold Your Hand, Eleanor Rigby, Blackbird and Yesterday.
The music will be performed by Northern Neck Orchestra Concertmaster and Principal Violinist Moises Cunha, violinist Elizabeth Crute Cunha, cellist Jake Fowler and violist Alexander
Smith.
“Mixing the works of Bach with songs by the Beatles is not unusual, as many of the Beatles’ melodies beautifully lend themselves to arrangements in Bach’s Baroque style,” said
Cunha. “And no wonder: Paul McCartney once said that Bach always was one of the Beatles favorite composers.”
