5th Typhoon Nationals Championship Regatta

The 5th Typhoon National Championship Regatta takes place June 8-10, 2018.  This is the largest gathering in the world of Cape Dory Typhoon sailboats with as many as 35 boats competing in the 2-day race.  The event is hosted by the Rappahannock River Yacht Club and is open to all Cape Dory Typhoons.

The regatta will be divided into two fleets. The composition of each fleet will be determined during Registration on Friday. The Typhoon Fleets will start together and sail the same course, but will be scored separately.

Championship Fleet: Experienced racers competing for the National Championship.
Corinthian Fleet: Less experienced racers competing for the Corinthian Fleet trophies. Fleet size will not be greater than the Championship Fleet size, and previous winners of the Corinthian Fleetwill race in the Championship Fleet.

Five (5) races are planned, with a maximum of four (4) on Saturday and three (3) on Sunday, at the discretion of the Race Committee (if four races are completed on Saturday, there will only be one race on Sunday). One (1) race shall constitute a series.

This event is open to the public — any Typhoon sailor is able to register.  There are boats traveling as far as Portland, ME, Syracuse, NY and Muskegon, MI to participate.  The general public is welcome to come by Rappahannock River Yacht Club to observe the fun.  There are spectators boats that go out.  It really is a special weekend.
