In 1830s Paris, four bohemian friends—Rodolfo, Marcello, Schaunard, and Colline—struggle to get by in their garret. On Christmas Eve, Rodolfo meets his neighbor Mimì, and their love quickly blossoms. They join the others at the bustling Café Momus, where Marcello is reunited with the lively Musetta. But jealousy and hardship soon strain both couples, and Rodolfo, hiding his worry over Mimì’s illness, suggests they part. Months later, Mimì, now gravely ill, is brought back to the garret. The friends sacrifice what little they have to comfort her, while Rodolfo recalls their first meeting. Surrounded by her companions, Mimì slips away peacefully, leaving Rodolfo devastated and the friends united in grief.
