Open to the Pubic on the Croquet Courts in Hartfield. Lawn Bowling is a game like Bocce but MORE!! Come to the World Class Croquet Courts in Hartfield on Tuesdays and learn how to lawn bowl. The Chesapeake Bay Lawn Bowling Club plays year round on Tuesdays 10AM, weather permitting. The Club provides all needed equipment including balls (called bowls), mats, boundary markers and instructors for new players. The only requirement: you must wear flat soled shoes to protect the greens.
Lawn Bowling was imported in the 1700’s from England by Colonial Williamsburg settlers. The Williamsburg Lawn Bowling Club is the oldest club in the US. The Williamsburg Club moved to and now plays at the best facilities on the east coast, the Croquet Courts in Hartfield. The Chesapeake Bay Lawn Bowling Club is part of the Northeast Division of Bowls Inc. a national organization. The facility has pavilions for shade, a clubhouse for members, and well maintained greens. This is an outstanding venue for croquet and lawn bowling.
The game is for young and old. It promotes healthy outdoor exercise, social interaction and experiences, and is a fun way to learn something new.
