Join Vera England at the Deltaville Maritime Museum on Monday, February 16th, 2026 from 10 to 1PM for a bread making class featuring festive holiday breads. Every nationality has a traditional egg braid or filled loaf for Easter or Christmas. This year we will learn the basics of creating a braided or filled bread like a challah, potica, or a Swedish cardamom loaf. This will be a hands-on class, so be prepared to stir, squish, knead, roll, and pound and to immerse your hands in warm gooey dough. While our dough rises, we will share a light lunch of Vera’s breads and soup brought by volunteers. Each participant will take home two loaves of almost-ready bread to finish baking at home. Ingredients will be supplied, but participants will be given a list of supplies (bowls, baking pans, etc.) that they will need for the class.
Please sign up at the Deltaville Maritime Museum at 804-776-7200 or at office@deltavillemuseum.com. There is a maximum of 20 students.
The class is $50 with all money raised (after the cost of ingredients) to support matching funds for the F.D. Crockett’s Maritime Heritage grant. Please bring your payment of $50 to the class when you come. Make checks payable to Vera England.
