For our second meeting, we’ll read Horse, by Geraldine Brooks. This book is an historical novel blending art, science, and history to explore the legacy of racism through the true story of Lexington, a record-breaking 19th-century thoroughbred. It weaves together three narratives: an enslaved groom in the 1850s, a 1954 art gallerist, and a modern-day scientist analyzing the horse’s skeleton, highlighting the crucial, often ignored, contributions of Black horsemen.
Join us on Wednesday, March 11, from 6 – 8pm. We request your RSVP.
