We’re cooking our way through Spanglish: Recipes & Stories by Monti Carlo, a soulful tribute to growing up between Puerto Rico and Houston, Texas, where continental American classics meet the bold flavors of the island. Think bacalaíto-battered onion rings, tamarind roast chicken, sorullo waffles with pique honey, and a no-bake morir soñando cheesecake. Yes, we’re already thinking about the cheesecake too.
With over 65 recipes and stories woven throughout, it’s part cookbook, part love letter, and a beautiful celebration of Boricua identity and the way food carries us between two worlds.
